or call 618-534-7994) What happened to the lion when God’s people prayed. A call for fasting and prayer went throughout the small indigenous village of Maruak. After praying they took action. They informed all village captains throughout the Gran Sabana of the situation and summoned them to an emergency meeting. They informed the government of this emergency meeting and a high-ranking general with his body guards was dispatched from Caracas to Santa Elena to deal with the emergency. As the general and all village captains listened with fascination, Donald, the vice-captain of Maurak and director of our Chiricayen Bible school, told the story of how God an angel had appeared to their forefathers to teach them about God. He explained how their elders had dreamed that a great light would be born in Maurak, a light that would spread throughout every indigenous region of Venezuela. “This aviation program,” explained Donald, “does not belong to the Americans. Nor does it belong to the Indians. It belongs to God. Thus, it cannot be closed, because God placed it here to save lives.” Immediately a murmur of approval was heard from all the captains. “It is true,” continued Donald, “that the government has promised to provide medical aviation support to the region. However, it is required that we give one week of advance notice in order to get the planes, which means that our patients generally die first.” Another murmur, this time a negative one, was heard across the room. “We simply cannot allow the AMA aviation program to close. Our lives depend on it. The general, sensing the tense situation in the room, rose to speak. “We have heard rumors in the government that this AMA program is really part of the New Tribes Mission in disguise. If it is, we have orders from the president to close all their aviation programs.” Donald responded waited courteously for a moment and then responded.. “We are unsure of what reasons the government might have for closing the New Tribes program down. However, I can assure you that the Adventist Medical Aviation program is totally unrelated to the New Tribes missions. We know this program belongs to God and that it is the fulfillment of the dreams our village elders and past chiefs have had.” “Yes it is. Yes it is.” Whispers were heard around the crowded room. The general, a wise man accustomed to resolving difficult problems, stood up again and addressed the gathering with a clear and firm voice. ”First of all, please accept my apologies for the accusations made by the lady colonel this past week. She acted out of ignorance of these things you have told me. There will be no closing down of the program. In fact, I would like to demonstrate our total support for the program with the following initiatives.” Silence filled the room as the general outlined his plan. “First, I will order a provision of fuel for both planes so that they will never have to lack fuel for their flights. Second, as we will be opening a flight training facility here in the region, I would like to offer free flight training to any indigenous candidates that you select so that AMA can have more pilots. Third, I would like to ask Captain Bob Norton to be one of our flight instructors so that he can insure your flight students get the kind of training they need to have.” Silent awe filled the church in Maurak as the brethren heard the story of how God had answered their prayers and fasting with another great miracle to keep the medical aviation service open. Not only had God answered their prayers, but also the hundreds of prayers throughout Venezuela and throughout the world in response to the email reports. Dear readers, I too would like to thank you for your prayers for Venezuela this past week. God’s answer was only 3 days in coming. Please note that when God’s people are united in prayer, the mighty arm of God is moved to action. Do not allow worldly and petty things to divide you from your brethren. Stand firm in the faith, be humble, think big and go forward from victory to victory. The world is facing a great crises in the very near future, but God during this time will fill the entire earth with His glory, and He invites you and I to be part of it. Don’t miss it. Thank you Bob and Neiba Norton for allowing yourselves to be used by God in conquering Venezuela with His love. From the front lines of battle, David Gates Assoc. Director of Communication / ADRA Venezuela Antilles Union President Gospel Ministries International ********************************************************************** "Jacob prevailed because he was persevering and determined. His experience testifies to the power of importunate prayer. It is now that we are to learn this lesson of prevailing prayer, of unyielding faith. The greatest victories to the church of Christ or to the individual Christian, are not those that are gained by talent or education, by wealth, or the favor of men. They are those victories that are gained in the audience chamber with God, when earnest, agonizing faith lays hold upon the mighty arm of power. Those who are unwilling to forsake every sin and to seek earnestly for God's blessing, will not obtain it. But all who will lay hold of God's promises as did Jacob, and be as earnest and persevering as he was, will succeed as he succeeded."
